GET YOUR HEAD ON STRAIGHT
WE OFFER THE MOST DETAILED EXAM IN OWENSBORO
OVER 10 DIFFERENT NEUROLOGICAL EXAMS
1-on-1 (New Client and Doctor) Consultation: Sit down with Dr. Kyle to ask any specific questions and learn more about how we can help you live life to the fullest.
Digital Paraspinal Infrared Thermography: We utilize state-of-the-art digital technology to detect nerve interferences or compromises within the spine and nervous system.
Chiropractic Postural Exams: During the postural exam, you will utilize our bilateral weight scales to determine if your body is compensating due to an atlas misalignment. Some clients in the past have been 30+ lbs heavier on one side of the body compared to the other side. Many times a short leg can lead to these postural distortions within the spine and body.
Chiropractic Structural Exams: This exam helps Dr. Kyle determine if your head is on straight or not as well as having any body imbalances within the spine due to an atlas misalignment.
Chiropractic Functional Tests: These are more specific tests that will be completed to determine whether there is an atlas misalignment in the upper part of the neck.
Chiropractic Neurological Exams: One of Dr. Kyle's favorite neurological test is figuring out which leg is shorter than the other due to an atlas misalignment.
3D Spinal Imaging via Cone Beam Computer Tomography (CBCT): We are the only chiropractor in Western Kentucky to utilize special 3D imaging that is located on-site at OAC. Taking specific pictures of the neck and upper cervical spine (when necessary) allows Dr. Kyle to measure any misalignments within 1/100th of a degree.

Doctor's Report of Findings: Dr. Kyle will sit down with you and go over your initial care plan recommendations in order to safety restore your nervous system back to proper functioning. This allows you to heal to your fullest potential.

WHAT TO EXPECT

What to Expect During Your New Patient Exam:
First and foremost, you can expect to be welcomed, listened to, and cared for. Owensboro Atlas Center is a connection-based, results-driven office. We use functional measures to assess your nervous system, and create care plans to help you not only get better, but improve your health for the long haul.
Below is your New Client Process:
Step 1: Complete New Client Paperwork
When you first submit your information, our friendly office manager will contact you to set up your initial consultation with Dr. Kyle. Once the appointment is scheduled, you will be emailed our initial new client paperwork. We kindly ask that you fully complete and submit your new client paperwork 2 hours prior to your first appointment so Dr. Kyle has time to look over everything and address your concerns in a timely manner.
Step 2: Consultation
This is an opportunity to discuss with your upper cervical chiropractor exactly what brought you in, the outcomes you desire, and how upper cervical chiropractic care can help you meet your goals.
Step 3: Upper Cervical Chiropractic Exams
Using digital technology, Dr. Kyle will assess and get a glimpse of how your nervous system is functioning. This allows him to detect any nerve interferences or compromises within your spine and nervous system. Dr. Kyle will also complete additional neurological, postural, structural, and functional exams to help determine your atlas misalignment and how it is compromising your nervous system.
Step 4: 3D Spinal Imaging via CBCT
After completion of the consultation, digital paraspinal infrared thermography, and other chiropractic exams, your upper cervical chiropractor will determine if further examination and pictures of your spine are necessary to provide you with state-of-the-art upper cervical chiropractic care.
Step 5: Schedule Next Visit (Doctor's Report of Findings)
Our office manager will then assist you in scheduling your next visit at a time that works best for you. This visit is what we call your Doctor's Report of Findings. Your upper cervical doctor will explain to you their analysis of all the data that was collected from your first visit and discuss the best steps moving forward to meet your health goals. You will be able to discuss which financial options best work for you and will be scheduled for your first upper cervical chiropractic adjustment on your next visit.

Step 6: Schedule Your First Upper Cervical Adjustment
The moment you have been waiting for...your first upper cervical adjustment! Our office manager will schedule your first adjustment. Please plan on being in the office for 1 hour and 20 minute for this appointment. Dr. Kyle will first scan your spine when you come into the adjusting room, then he will briefly explain the process of getting an upper cervical adjustment. Lastly, you will receive your first upper cervical adjustment and Dr. Kyle will escort you back to your private resting suite.

Step 7: Resting Period
This is one of the most important aspects of your visit - the resting period. You will be resting in a recliner or a bed for up to an hour to begin and holding and healing process. This resting period after your adjustment allows the muscles and ligaments to accommodate and "hold" your atlas in the correct position. The objective for upper cervical chiropractic is for your doctor to analyst your spine and nervous to see how long your are "holding" in between your adjustments. "Holding" or "maintain" your adjustment mean you are healing!

Step 8: Post-check
After resting period is completed, Dr. Kyle will bring you back into the adjusting room to get post-checked to make sure the adjustment occurred and the nervous system is restored back to proper functioning. Your upper cervical doctor will schedule a follow-up visit within a week to see if you are holding your upper cervical adjustment.

Will I get adjusted on the first visit?

Therefore, you will receive your first adjustment after your Doctor's Report of Findings and Care Plan Recommendations are completed on the second visit.
Why do I have to wait until my third visit to get adjusted?
It is very important for your upper cervical doctor to obtain enough data (neurological spinal scans utilizing infrared thermography) in order for you to receive a gentle and safe upper cervical adjustment. Dr. Kyle takes his care very seriously in order for his clients to get the best results and outcomes for their health goals. There are some instances where Dr. Kyle will combine your first and second visits together in one day in order for out-of-town clients to receive their upper cervical adjustment sooner. This is is mutually agreed upon with your upper cervical doctor.

Some people say that once you start you will have to go forever. Is that true?
Our care should only be utilized for as long as it is serving you to become a better, healthier, and more vibrant you. Typically, patients do choose to stay with us for general well-being care because they like the way they feel and function following a chiropractic adjustment. We only want to be utilized for as long as we are an asset to your life. People tend to feel really good when they're in chiropractic care, which is why they keep coming back.
Why would I get my kids checked by a chiropractor?
We recommend that children be checked from birth. (Our current clients who are with us during their pregnancy receive a complimentary at-home adjustment within the first two weeks of their birth and a complimentary newborn “welcome to earth” check as well). All births whether long or short, natural, assisted, or cesarean, can put a lot of pressure on your baby’s spinal cord and nervous system. Even the baby’s position in the womb can have an early effect on spinal alignment. When these tiny infants begin to grow, learn to crawl, and eventually walk, freshly developed motor patterns often lead to numerous slips/falls, bumps, and bruises. Getting checked and adjusted are crucial to helping keep kids in alignment through these fast-changing years.
Will you twist/crack/pop my neck during an upper cervical adjustment?
Specific upper cervical adjustments involve no twisting, cracking, or popping of the neck. A special side-posture table is used to help facilitate a gentle and safe adjustment. The anatomy of the upper part of the neck is totally different compared to the rest of the spine. Therefore, there is no need to twist or pop the neck in order to receive an effective upper cervical adjustment to restore the nervous system back to proper functioning.
What is a subluxation?
A subluxation is when the top two vertebrae in the upper neck shift out of their normal positions causing the spine to become structurally and neurologically compromised. These structural and neurological compromises can lead to symptoms such as pain, heat, swelling, tenderness, tingling, burning, and numbness within the body. If you are experiencing these symptoms, you may be suffering from a very correctable vertebral subluxation.
Can a subluxation cause symptoms other than musculoskeletal pain?
Yes! We see patients who have experienced relief from migraines, numbness, stomach issues, even multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s. In 1895, the first chiropractic patient was a deaf man who had his hearing restored from a chiropractic adjustment. The adjustor, DD Palmer, thought he had found the cure for deafness. However, as he began to adjust more and more deaf people, he quickly realized that he did not have the cure for deafness, but that his adjustments were having a tremendous effect on the nerve system. Every organ, muscle, and tissue in your body has nerve supply, and nerves originate from your spine! A healthy spine = a healthy nervous system.
I'm sick. Should I reschedule my appointment?
We encourage everyone to use their best judgment and keep their distance if they are feeling sick. We also know that many people feel better and their body is better able to adapt to a run-down immune system if they are able to relieve stress and tension in their body. We recommend that if you are feeling sick to give us a call so we can help you determine what is right for you.
